What you pay, and to whom
The total is the same either way. What changes is whether the national and council portion goes through Pack 274 or through the online application.

National BSA Youth Registration

- Annual membership in the Boy Scouts of America
- National program resources, liability insurance, and background-screening infrastructure
- Access to Scoutbook and BSA online training resources, as provisioned by BSA
Local Council Insurance

- Council-provided accident and sickness insurance for council and unit events
- Helps offset council-level program support services
Pack Fee

- Advancement and awards: rank badges and service patches
- Program supplies: den craft materials, meeting activity kits, first-aid and other consumables
- Events and recognition: Fall and Spring camping, a Pinewood Derby kit for each Scout, event trophies and ribbons
- Leader support: required leader-training reimbursements, Youth Protection Training and position resources
- Snacks at pack meetings and other Scout activities

About the uniform
Pack 274 is transitioning to Class A uniforms this year and orders them for Scouts. Uniform size comes from the Pack 274 Google form you complete during registration. For Scouts in grades 4 and above, Pack 274 orders a khaki shirt so it can keep being worn past fifth grade if the Scout continues with Scouts BSA. The $60 uniform amount covers the Class A shirt, neckerchief, and patches; new Scouts also receive a Class B T-shirt from Pack 274.
